We brought the car in for repair May 13,2008. Because of a couple of problems in the same circuit, the diagnostic work was tricky. The owner was very diligent to study carefully the parts involved and diagnostic tools need for this car, as it was not a regular model they work on. First, the AC fuse would constantly blow. The cause was determined to be a shorted pressure switch. In addition, an incorrect relay had been installed in this circuit by another shop, causing the 12 volt line to be closer to 18 volts. Replacement of both parts solved the problem, but had to be done in a proper order. When the car was ready to pick-up, we were leaving on a trip. The owner offered to hold the car until we returned. Upon our return, he called us on Memorial Day to open the shop and let us pick-up the car. We were impressed that it was washed, after storage. I've had an unpleasant experience with a dealer chasing down electrical problems in another car. In my view we paid a fair price to B&C Auto Center for excellent work and personal attention. We were kept in the loop throughout the job.

The experience of working with them was actually very nice. I liked them a lot. My rearview mirror had fallen off. I had tried to fix it by myself but it didn’t stay. So, they fixed that for me. They did a complete inspection of my car, instead of just looking at fixing the rearview mirror. The quality of their service was good. They found a leak in the radiator and told me about it. When I told the guy there that I didn’t want to fix the leak immediately, he didn’t pressurize me to get the job done. Since I’ve been there, they have followed up with a couple of postcards to me. When I need them, they are available. They’ve even given me discount coupons. Rather than pressurizing me, they have recently sent me a couple of reminder notes in the mail.

This was a small job performed under a very tight deadline with a good result. Steve, the fellow who handles calls and lines up work, was intuitive, efficient, effective -- and helpful beyond the pale. Had a well thought-out, tiered cost schedule. Kept a lift open for inspection of the used car that we were bringing in, even though we'd been delayed at the seller and were 15 mins late. Noting that we had young kids in tow and overhearing that we had plans to find an early lunch, he offered a couple places and gave directions. We returned to find the work complete slightly early. In the end, an $80 inspection unearthed at least one problem -- a leaking rear differential -- that could have cost us greatly to repair later, plus undercarriage rusting and brake issues that all served as leverage in weighing the purchase of the vehicle and negotiating over a price. Overall, an excellent experience and a rewarding result.

I found them in Angie's List. It wasn't anything major as it didn't affect the performance of the car. They said it is my catalytic converter and they had to order one and it took a while because of the new emission laws. It was replaced. They didn't try to sell me things that I didn t need. I had heard it before that the catalytic converters had platinum in them and had a high tendency of being stolen, because they are so costly, but the price was reasonable. The thing I like about them is they give you a ride home and not many places do that. I don't know about the charger for service as I haven t been to other places.

I initially brought my car to them for a simple problem with the brake lights, but while I was there I had them look at the A/C system, which was blowing warm air (Another mechanic had failed to fix my A/C the previous year, even after installing a new compressor, and I had given up on the A/C). B&C put a lot of effort and persistence into diagnosing the problem with the A/C system, and they took the time to make sure it was really working reliably. The first problem they found was a broken condenser fan. A new fan seemed to fix the system, but B&C continued testing and discovered that the cold air turned off after about 10 minutes of running. They finally tracked the problem down to a faulty thermostat. Once they replaced the thermostat, the system worked perfectly. I finally have cold air again after a year without it.

My son was on his way to his overnight college orientation when his car overheated two blocks from the school. After finding B and C on Angie's List, I called and Patti said to bring the car in an they will check it our and determine what needed to be done. I had the car towed to B and C and met with Patti. She when to great lengths to make sure I understood what they were going to do and what the estimated costs would be. Several hours later, after checking the cooling system (which was shot), she made her recommendations and the price for each item. The costs were slightly under her quote. I asked Patti to check on some other known issues and she helped identify the most critical and options for fixing them. In one case, the car needed to be checked and she gave me the option of picking up the car and taking it to a shop I knew or if needed, she would take it to a shop she trusted. The work was completed and I will definitely make sure that my son takes his car to B and C for all service or repair issues.
